Aylestone has buildings surviving from its time as a village as well as the better known post nineteenth century development. Come on a tour mapping its development over the last 1,000 years and discover a Roman canal; a window into Saxon times; a medieval packhorse bridge; one of the UK’s busiest canal, railway and tram services to Leicester and a once popular day out destination, with its boat house, lido and bingo hall. Led by Jim McCallum

Start 10.30 am at Aylestone Meadows Car park, Marsden Lane.
