A Sideways Look at Leicester through some More and Less Well-known Buildings in the St Margarets / Belgrave Gate Area
March 7 @ 10:00 am – 11:45 am
This walk takes in diverse buildings in a now unfashionable area of Leicester including an art deco factory, a long-closed 1850’s Board School, a shock-of-the-new Department Store and a last look at the cobbled quadrangle of the Corah site ahead of its development. We’ll hear about Leicester’s first female doctor and a church that was a candidate to become Leicester’s Cathedral, as well as reflect on the scale of the challenge of keeping city centres used and attractive.

Led by Jim McCallum
Start at 10.00am from outside the south door/main entrance of St Margaret’s Church, St Margaret’s Way.
Please note the slightly earlier start time.
Finish at approximately 11.45am.
