Gallowtree Gate and Granby Street

Starting from near The Clock Tower we will walk along both streets learning about the varied history of the buildings and those who used them.

Learn about the grim reality for some who were transported along these streets,  hear about the very many famous people who stayed adjacent to a local ‘jitty’, and an unpleasant world first.

Reminisce about buying Christmas party dresses, enjoying afternoon tea at a long gone shop, a non-flying pelican, a two-necked swan and an umbrella.

These two streets really do have a great deal of interesting and surprising history.

This is a linear walk and will finish near the YMCA.
