Haymarket & Belgrave Gate – A Roundabout Walk
Saturday 10th October
Learn about these two roads that make up one of the major routes into Leicester.
Hear about perhaps Leicester’s most recognisable landmark, and the hotels that used to stand nearby.
On our walk towards Belgrave Circle, you will be told about the very many ‘big stars’ of the day that frequented Leicester’s entertainment ‘hot spots’, yet more about some of the local pubs, and hear that a World famous singer & piano player performed one of his early gigs in the late 1960’s near to this roundabout!
The area was not all glamour and glitz. You will also hear about the community who lived in the poor housing that previously covered much of this area.
This walk will finish near to the Charles Street bus station.
