From the Station to the Gallows: Leicester’s other legal quarter

February 17 @ 10:30 am 12:00 pm

A walk up the London Road from the Station to the magnificent gates of Victoria Park taking in Victorian houses with a history and some of Leicester’s Art Deco buildings. It will also explore Leicester’s “second” legal quarter between De Montfort Street and University Road. Sadly, most of the old firms have gone with their interesting characters but the stories remain.

The walk is led by Peter Kilty

10.30 am start, meet by the Thomas Cook statue outside Leicester Railway Station

£5.00 – £7.00

Thanks to Jim McCallum for the excellent walk on Saturday. Appreciating Leicester as a fairly recent (8yrs) resident, I highly value the Civic Society’s walks. This latest one (Leicester in 1923) was particularly interesting thanks to Jim’s mine of information. I frequently walk around the city but realise there are some areas/streets I don’t visit or know at all. I will now revisit Jim’s route and enjoy exploring Leicester off the beaten track. Thanks!
