Welford Road Cemetery – A Medical History
August 22 @ 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Learn about those that had a direct medical association with Leicester and those that helped improve the health and wellbeing of the Leicester population, from an architect to Leicester’s first female doctor and many more.
Hear about an early Matron at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and a nurse who traversed the globe for 38 years caring for her passengers.
This guided walk will take you to the graves of these caring people.
Please note that you should wear appropriate footwear as we will on occasions be walking over grassy areas within the cemetery.
For most of the walk we will be on the pathways around the cemetery which although in some areas are sloped are suitable for electric mobility scooters.

Led by a ‘Friends of Welford Road Cemetery’ tour guide. Organiser
Start at 10.30am from the Visitor Centre, Welford Road.
Finish at approximately 12.30pm
Refreshments will be available after the walk and a chance to look around the Visitor Centre.
