“One of the city’s most eclectic squares for high-quality architectural diversity. From Victorian, through Art Deco, to one of the 20th century’s leading architects, Vinoly.”
The start of our eye-opening Civic Society tour around Leicester’s Cultural Quarter, kindly led by James Gunn. Revealing the history behind some of the city’s industrial heritage: from framework knitting to leather production and even treasury tags – those little paper connectors used across the world were they invented here in Leicester! Social history – like the little Guild Hall building on Colton Street – and the modern statements of civic life in the many, and glorious, murals in the area.
Thank you James and for everyone who joined us.
