Celebrating Alice Hawkins

We will meet in front of Alice’s statue on Green Dragon Square (at the rear of the new indoor market building)

Peter Barratt will provide a guided tour of the key places of interest that his suffragette great-grandmother Alice Hawkins frequented during her campaigning years. With first-hand accounts of the suffragette meetings and marches passed onto Peter from his grandfather and visual aids to show as the walk progresses, it will give an insight into the life of Alice and her campaign ‘for the vote’. The walk will finish at the former Equity Shoe factory on Western Road (off Narborough Road).
