The University of Leicester Campus

Meet at the bottom of Peace Walk, the University Road end (not outside the David Wilson Library as we previously stated). The walk will conclude at the new Freeman’s Campus on Welford Road.
There are frequent buses along Welford and London Roads, and a bus also goes along University Road itself (48 southbound, 47 north).
Leicester University’s occupation of its current site goes back to its founding in 1921, but the history of some of the buildings goes back further, although most are an interesting mix of modern buildings. This tour will take a look at some of these buildings and learn about the original uses of the older buildings and the development of the university, taking in the Attenborough era and the big expansion of the 1960s.
