Charny and North Highfields Walk

Meeting at Charnwood Primary School, we will mourn the loss of the Charney, where Wilko’s started as a hardware shop in 1933, and walk through South Highfields to the Goddard masterpiece, Melbourne Hall. You will see a cinema that is now a mosque, Victorian middle-class housing, the first Polish church in Leicester and some maybe not-so-good modern stuff. Learn about the local schools and businesses and why Highfields got its name.
