Heritage Tales and Trails

16/09/2023 @ 10:30 am 4:00 pm

As part of Leicester’s Heritage Open Days festival, we have arranged two very special events for Saturday 16th September.

Both events are completely FREE. But the walk is now fully booked!!

The morning talk is a drop-in so there is no need to book. Numbers are limited for Sir Peter Soulsby’s guided walk therefore please email chair@leicestercivicsociety.org.uk to book your place.

The venue for both is Leicester Secular Hall – 75 Humberstone Gate, Leicester LE1 1WB.

10.30 am

“See to it that their names be not forgotten – The work of the Leicester City, County & Rutland At Risk War Memorials Project”

A presentation will be made by Denis Kenyon, one of the project directors of the Leicester and Leicestershire At Risk War Memorials project – Denis will talk about the vital work the project has been involved in since its formal beginning in August 2012.

12 pm

Break. An opportunity for a brew and to meet and chat with committee members.

1 pm

“The Mile Straight, the Great Central and City Challenge”

STOP PRESS – This part of the day has been cancelled as Sir Peter is no longer available.

Fully Booked!!

After last year’s incredible exploration of Leicester’s ancient city walls, we are delighted that the City Mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby, will be leading a brand-new walk for us. This time scouting the development of a section of the city from a modern perspective. A superb hike in prospect, this walk could last up to two hours.
