The two winners of the prestigious Leicester Civic Society Architectural Awards have now been presented with their awards. They have both created outstanding places that enrich Leicester’s built environment and are indeed the heritage of our future. This was the 15th year we’ve presented these awards which were judged by the committee of the Leicester Civic Society.
Pictured receiving their awards from Leicester Civic Society Chair, Burt McNeill, are Karl Diggins, Manager of the Brooklyn Hotel and Pete Hickling, Head of Campus Services at the University of Leicester.

2023 Design Award winner, Building Management Services for the Brooklyn Hotel.

2023 Heritage Award winner, Sheppard Robson for Freemans Cottages.

Both the Brooklyn Hotel and the Freeman’s Cottages are open to the public and well worth a visit; in both projects, much of their design beauty is best viewed from within. This year we have also introduced a photographic award, and the winner is Simon P Bates for his image of Leicester’s Space Centre (pictured).
